Lots of writing later, my sequel's manuscript is ready for the shopping. It's called "The Allure of the Curse" and it's the next chapter in Thomas and Warrenna's saga. It picks up right where "The Cure for the Curse" left off: vampires, healers, dreams, action, wonder, even a little romance. Stay tuned for any news on publication!

This summer has been spent traveling, changing jobs, and working on the still-untitled sequel. In the meantime, I got some good news: my book won the 2007 Arizona Book Award for best Young Adult Novel! My thanks to my friends, family, fans and publisher, who have all been incredibly supportive.
I'm in the final edit of my sequel and hope to start the publishing process before the end of the month. I'll report any noteworthy updates here and on my blog.

Buena High School was VERY good to me for my visit on April 20! My thanks to all the students and staff for helping make my visit such a good time. It's always fulfilling for me to talk to future authors, and I'd be delighted to give more guidance or advice via email. You don't have to be from Buena! Just drop me a line and I'll be happy to share what I know.
I'm taking a break from public appearances for the forseeable future so I can focus on completing the sequel to The Cure For The Curse . I'll post any news of note, but otherwise check my blog for weekly updates.
Thanks again, Buena!

Another good time at the High Desert Crimes book fair. I met a lot of interesting and supportive authors, and I'm eager to work with the Sisters In Crime in the future. I suppose I'll be a Mister Sister. Anyway, the people there (and at Valley View Elementary!) made me eager to get back to work on my sequel and dive back into the publishing sea.
My next appearance will be at Buena High School in Sierra Vista on April 20. More details to come!
Also, check out a new review in the press section.
Check my blog for more info!

My thanks to everybody who came out to the signing at Borders in Tempe. I had a great time and met some new readers. Also, my book is available for sale at that location!
My next event is the "High Desert Crimes" book fair on Saturday, March 24th in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Not only will I have a table (from 10am to 4pm), but I'll be participating in an author panel on paranormal thrillers from 2:00-2:30pm. The fair is taking place at the Cochise College library.
The college is located at 901 N. Columbo Avenue in Sierra Vista. You can find a list of attending authors here.
See you there!

My next book signing appearance has been confirmed!
Place: Borders Book Store in Tempe
Day: Saturday, February 17th 2007
Time: 2pm-5pm
The store is on northeast corner of Mill Avenue and 7th Street, just a little north of University. There's public parking all around the area, including a garage behind the store on 7th Street.
Stop by and say hello! I'm flying solo this time, so please come keep me company! (and maybe buy a copy while you're in the neighborhood)
More news to come!

My December 9 signing in Sierra Vista was a big success! Thanks to everybody who stopped by, and to B.J. Kurtz and D.E.W. Turner for graciously sharing the space with me.
I'm taking a break from public appearances for the winter holidays. I'll be setting up my next signing in the Phoenix area, hopefully taking place in mid-January. I'll post as soon as I know anything concrete.
In the meantime I'll be working on the sequel, watching football and updating my blog. Happy Hollandaise!
P.S. I'm still reachable via email over the break.

Another book signing!
It's just been confirmed:
When: Saturday, December 9, 12pm-4pm
Where: The B. Dalton in the Mall at Sierra Vista
Same location as November's signing - it went so well the store wanted me back as soon as I could make it! So if you missed out on that event (or if you know someone who did) then here's your chance to stop by and say hello. Repeat visitors are welcome, too. Also present at this signing will be local authors B.J. Kurtz and D.W. Turner.
Check out my blog for further info. See you on the 9th!

My first Sierra Vista signing took place over the weekend of November 4, and it was an enormous success! Big thanks to everyone who stopped by. It was nice to see some familiar faces and great to meet some new ones. Needless to say, both my publisher and the bookstore management were thrilled, and we're currently putting together a signing at that same store in December!

Some other news to report:
My book is now being carried on the shelves of the B. Dalton in the Sierra Vista mall: check the 'local author' section.
Also, we've added a Press page to the site, where all my reviews and media articles will live. The Sierra Vista Herald did a feature story on me that was published the day of the event - great timing! Check it out, it's a well-written piece. I've also got a few more reviews of the novel there. Fairly positive words, I'd say.
Thanks again to everyone who helped me on this venture, especially Mary Kohn and the students at Buena High. And to all my new friends out there: check out my blog! I update it at least twice a week, and every now and then I say something that's almost interesting.
As always, thanks for stopping by the site! Check back for updates, or subscribe to the newsletter.

I also talked to some high school students at Buena that week, which also went really well. The staff and students were enthusiastic and made me feel right at home. I can't wait to return. I'll post details as they become available. Some other news to report:

Hello again,
My first book signing for The Cure For The Curse is coming up:
When: Saturday, November 4th, 1pm-4pm
Where: B. Dalton Bookseller, the Mall at Sierra Vista (Arizona)
You know you should be Xmas shopping anyway - why not stop by while you're already at the mall? And if you've never even heard of Sierra Vista, it really is lovely this time of year. Why not roadtrip?
In other news, my distributor Baker & Taylor is now listing my book, which means it can be ordered from just about any bookstore in the land. I'll report when I know which bookstores will be giving the book some shelfspace, and when I know that Amazon is listing the book.
Also, my book will soon be available in braille from The Foundation for Blind Children, which I think is pretty darn cool. Every dollar of every sale of a braille copy will go directly to the foundation.
Thanks for visiting!

Getting some reviews in for the novel:
Wantz-upon-a-time review
lovevampires.com review
I'm pretty happy with them! I also took part in an author interview on lovevampires.com (It's at my LV author page). It was a fun project, and will be posted on the front page all month. Many thanks to Amanda for the opportunity.
Right now I'm waiting for Baker & Taylor to list my book, which will set off a chain of events that will eventually result in my own amazon.com page. I'll post any news on this front as soon as I get it.
The other big thing happening is the first book signing, at the B. Dalton in the Sierra Vista mall. It's a month away (November 4th), and I'll be spreadin' the news in various ways. I'll post the forthcoming media links here.

The book is finally available! It'll be a while before amazon.com and bn.com catch on, and Ill post as soon as I find out. For now, the only place you can buy my book is through the publisher, but that will be changing soon!
Also, my diehards will note the drastic website change. Big props to El Jefe for the improvement. The news section will be updated when major stuff happens, but for day-to-day fun check out the blog.
Also note the contact page and the newsletter sign-up. I'll be sending out a monthly email with news about my projects and appearances, as well as some exclusive content in the Zera's Orphans universe.
And for the record, The Cure for the Curse is book 1 in the Zera's Orphans series. The sequel ("Orphans Betrayed") is in the works. Check out the projects page for a sneekpeek!
Enjoy!

Lots to report! I received a galley from my publisher last week - a galley is a typeset draft of the novel. Unfortunately there were lots of errors to fix, and it will be "a while" until I see an updated galley. But it was an important opportunity for me to clean up some places that had started to bother me since the last edit (which was well over a year ago). I still don't know when production will start, but my gut tells me that it will probably be early September. I've seen proofs of the cover and back cover, but until publication I won't be able to post pictures on the site. I do have my own ISBN, though! For trivia's sake, it's 1-932695-41-9.
I haven't been updating this site very much, partially because of the lack of news, but also because I've got a blog set up on my myspace page. I hope to reach a lot of potential readers on myspace, but I still need a homepage with more versatility like this one. Hopefully I can get some real webdesign in here soon. Bear with me!
Also acquired a couple new URLS: thecureforthecurse.com and zerasorphans.com . They're just redirectors right now, but there are plans for exclusive supplementary content for readers. Or, in English, bonus book materials that you can only get from the websites!
The sequel is progressing well - I'm nearing completion of a second draft. I've been focusing on the galley and setting up promotional materials for The Cure for the Curse, though.
Last update I promised TMI about the author, and all that's available on the myspace site. Both that site and this one will change significantly once I have a release date.
Thanks for stopping by! If you'd like to receive an email when this page is updated, just drop me a line.
